Server Decisions
« on: September 03, 2010, 11:01:47 pm »
Right now, me and the staff are consulting on weather or not we should removed the ::setlevel command and add a training spot.

So before we made any decision on what to do, we would like to know if you would like it removed or not.

My feelings on the command:
Well, setlling your level takes no time at all and can easily be abused.
I'd like this to be a well populated server but i feel this is holding us back from achieving this goal.
Many people do not like to pk and feel its a waste of time. But many other people find it fun and entertaining.

Yes, that'd be a good idea - it'll encourage people to play solo & spend more time in your rsps
+ more users = more encouraging to play

Info:
If we do decide to remove the ::setlevel command I will ad a ::reset command to reset skills for a price of server money.
If the command is removed I will add a rockcrab or yack training spot.
I will also try adding skills and teleports.

Things that will be done soon:
Staffzone will be the first to come which will only benifit staff members. If setlevel command gets removed I'll add a fountain to the staffzone that will give rares and +all 99 skills (like a master command) after being clicked on.

Marc [imz] has given me a list of bugs that need to be fixed in server.

Gotta setup some sort of Skill mechanisim
Friends List update, make sure it's fonctional
Attacking monsters are **** - gfx wise
Perhaps have a scroll, that opens up a command list
Don't let lent items be dropped - discard option
Don't allow spawning noted items unless
Noted items stay noted even in bank
being under attack/logging out, still being logged in?
Withdraw 'X' does not work
overloads

These additions will come first ^^

::setlevel command is most commonly used on servers that die out in a matter of days. definitely get rid of it.

that my friend is a good server. one where you can insta 99 is kindof lame. working for skills = much better.

Well.. Adding the skilling would be hard. Adding the teleports/commands will be 4/10 for difficulty because it takes time.

Work has its' rewards; having multiple spots also encourages the user to explore more areas of the server, therefor creating more time spent on the game - rather doing everything within an hour.

Goblins
Al-Karid Warriors
Rock Crabs
Hobgoblins
Lesser Demons
..

Many places can me implemented, and teleports can be as simple as to talk to someone at a specific location. Always have the Home Teleport in case of need to return to base.

^just ideas that poped in my mind :)

Okay; so what I have found in successful servers it has to be different, training must be fast! seriously people will spend like 10 min's training get bored < that is true! have both shops and item spawning people have diffrent opinions most i would say prefer spawning  but shops for common items are a good idea. Overall a good coder is needed.

you should leave setlevel till you have set enough npc at correct location and gained a stable amount of players (+60 or +70 avrage online). Then switch to training.
